About me

"You can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."

Jim Carrey

Born and bred in the no longer so United Kingdom I moved to Germany at the age of 22 and looking back, it seems even then my destiny was already carved in stone.

As a teenager I spent most of my time either behind or in front of a traditional English Pub bar (seldom under one) as later in her life, Mum became a publican.

Having completed my training in the Hotel and Restaurant Trade I moved on to sell German Wine with an extraordinarily fluctuating success-rate. Today though, I am fluent in the German Language and my Scottish born German teacher from school days, who himself wasn't easily understood in English let alone German, would surely be very proud of me today.

Germany has become my second home and is the roots of my own family. I`ve mastered the lingo and 35 years on, I am more passionate and intrigued about everything to do with Wine than I was when I first arrived. This curiosity led me to qualify as a Culture and Wine Ambassador for the Nahe Wine-growing Region of Germany back in 2011, leading to many memorable historical Town-Tours and Wine-Tastings with guests from all walks of life and origin.

Both my passion for Wine and my command of the German language have put me in good stead for what originally started as simply "doing a favour for a befriended Wine-Grower". Years later and having since completed several successful wine-themed projects, not only has my fascination increased but with it, my skills and knowledge on the subject too.

In my role as a certified Culture and Wine Ambassador for Germany and German Wine Advisor I've been lucky enough to represent, translate and work for various prestigious Estate Wineries, also the German Wine Institute. A particular honour for me was to be recommended to actively take part on the Awards-Jury-Board for the Selection Trade Magazine. Another highlight and a unique experience was most certainly my trip to China in 2016, where I was invited to present and promote Wines of Germany to an extremely prominent and attentive Chinese audience and during my stay, visit the Prowein in Shanghai.

I aspire to increase the knowledge of and appreciation for excellent wines worldwide. Also, to heighten my readers desire for the discovery of unusual or unique locations. My inspiration comes from yourself and your product or establishment. Genuine and authentic texts from the user's point of view serve well for marketing purposes, as reviews or recommendations. Such communication creates not only emotion, but also connects your product with potential future clients in an authentic and effective manner.

I look forward to hearing from you soon!

Footnote

Two people who have inspired me in later years, not only because of their talents, but also because they stayed true to themselves are Victoria Wood and Jim Carrey.
Jim's words above contributed to my decision to do just that.
