About me

"You can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."
Jim Carrey

Born and bred in the no longer so United Kingdom, I moved to Germany at the age of 22 and, looking back, it seems my destiny was already carved in stone.

A communicative child, I spent most of my teenage years either behind or in front of an English pub bar - as later in life, Mum became a publican.

“If you had a brain, you’d be dangerous,” she would say, so as a result I went to Art College for a year to then discover, that neither Van Gogh nor Picasso had earned much of a living. Born for hospitality, I completed my training in the hotel and restaurant trade before moving into wine sales – albeit with an extraordinarily fluctuating rate of success!
Germany then became my second home and the roots of my own family and having mastered the lingo, 35 years on I remain passionate and intrigued by everything to do with wine, wine-production and in particular, the passionate individuals behind a label.

In 2011, I qualified as a Culture and Wine Ambassador and haven`t looked back. Further accomplishments include the internationally recognised Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) levels 1, 2 and 3 - which I sat in Portugal and in Germany. I participate regularly in wine-tastings, on judging panels, travelling too, to broaden both my horizon and my palate.

In 2023, I took the plunge and became self-employed. What began as a passion for wine has evolved into a broader commitment. Today, I combine wine and travel communication, editorial storytelling and professional support services to highlight the individuals, places and experiences behind a destination, a bottle or memorable hospitality.
In a world defined by constant stimulation, artificial intelligence and saturated markets, authentic storytelling remains one of the most powerful tools for clarity, connection and success.

Footnote
Comedian Victoria Wood and actor Jim Carrey are two individuals who have inspired me.
Jim's words - inserted above - contributed to my decision to do just that.
